Denmark Baby Names 2018

Statistics Denmark  has released baby names data for 2018 for Denmark. Data is available for the 50 most popular male and female names.

Female Names

The two most popular girls’ names are unchanged from 2017, with Ida topping the chart and Emma in second place. Alma moves up four places to joint third with Ella, who climbs one place. Sofia drops two places to fifth, Freja falls one place to sixth and Josefine drops one place to seventh. Clara is a new entry in the top ten, climbing five places to eighth. Anna is unchanged in ninth. Karla is also a new entry in the top ten, moving up four places to tenth. Alberte and Agnes drop out of the top ten.

New entries in the top 50 names are Johanne (46th) and Yasmin (49th).

Male Names

The top four boys’ names are unchanged from 2017, with William in first place, Noah in second, Oscar in third and Lucas in fourth place. Victor moves up one place to fifth and Malthe climbs three places to sixth. Oliver drops one place to seventh and Alfred remains in eighth. Carl falls four places to ninth. Valdemar is a new entry in the top ten, moving up one place to tenth. Emil drops out of the top ten.

New entries in the top 50 are Hugo (26th), Conrad (43rd), Pelle (46th), Anker (47th) and Laurits (48th).
