The two most popular girls’ names are unchanged from 2017, with Olivia topping the chart and Amelia in second place. Ava moves up one place to third, jumping ahead of Isla who drops to fourth. Emily is unchanged in fifth. Mia climbs one place to sixth, changing places with Isabella who drops to seventh. Sophia is a new entry in the top ten, moving up three places to eighth. Ella remains in ninth. Grace is another new entry in the top ten, climbing three places to tenth. Poppy and Lily drop out of the top ten.
For the sixth year in a row Oliver is the most popular boys’ name. George moves up one place to second, ahead of Harry who drops to third. Noah is unchanged in fourth and Jack remains in fifth. Leo moves up one place to sixth. Arthur is a new entry in the top ten, moving up 12 places to seventh. Muhammad climbs two places to eighth. Oscar drops one place to ninth and Charlie also falls one place to tenth. Jacob drops out of the top ten.
New entries in the top 100 names include Grayson (up 26 places to 83rd), Jasper (up 13 places to joint 89th), Rowan (up 14 places to joint 89th), Sonny (up 15 places to 99th) and Dominic (up 15 places to 100th).
