The Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency  has published baby names data for 2016 for Northern Ireland in United Kingdom. Data is available for all names.

Female Names

Emily is the most popular girls’ name in 2016. Grace moves up one place to second. Olivia moves up two places to third and Anna climbs two places to fourth. Sophie falls one place to fifth. Lily is a new entry in the top ten, climbing nine places to sixth. Amelia remains in seventh. Ella falls six places to eighth and Ava moves up one place to ninth. Sophia is another new entry in the top ten, moving up two places to tenth. Aoife and Lucy drop out of the top ten.

New entries in the top 100 names include Thea (up 81 places to 42nd), Elsie (up 96 places to 59th), Lottie (up 86 places to 75th), Sadie (up 31 places to 79th), Ivy (up 30 places to 86th), Penny (up 41 places to 88th) and Laura (up 37 places to 92nd).

Names dropping out of the top 100 include Paige (down 49 places to 102nd), Orlaith (down 22 places to joint 112th), Rachel (down 35 places to joint 112th), Annabelle (down 39 places to joint 120th), Lauren (down 61 places to joint 120th), Elizabeth (down 30 places to joint 129th), Lexi (down 52 places to joint 129th), Naomi (down 32 places to joint 129th), Julia (down 40 places to 137th) and Orla (down 59 places to 151st).

Male Names

The top two boys’ names are unchanged from last year, with James in first place and Jack in second. Oliver climbs three places to third. Charlie remains in fourth place and Noah drops two places to fifth. Harry moves up two places to sixth. Jacob is a new entry in the top ten, climbing five places to seventh. Daniel falls three places to eighth and Matthew drops two places to ninth. Alfie is another new entry in the top ten, moving up three places to tenth. Thomas and Jake drop out of the top ten.

New entries in the top 100 include Daire (up 28 places to 74th), Harvey (up 26 places to 76th), Sam (up 24 places to 78th), Ruairi (up 31 places to 86th), Ezra (up 38 places to 88th), Robert (up 22 places to 90th), Corey (up 22 places to 93rd) and Leon (up 28 places to 93rd).

Names dropping out of the top 100 include Peter (down 21 places to 108th), Tyler (down 30 places to 112th), Eli (down 25 places to joint 120th), Zachary (down 33 places to joint 120th), Andrew (down 73 places to joint 156th), Owen (down 58 places to joint 156th) and Joe (down 73 places to 166th).
