Nova Scotia Baby Names 2018

The Nova Scotia Government  has published baby names data for 2018 for Nova Scotia in Canada. Data is available for the 20 most popular female and male names.

Female Names

For the third year in a row Olivia is the most popular girls’ name. Sophia moves up one place to second. In joint third place are Charlotte, who drops one place, and Emma, who climbs three places. Amelia moves up four places to fifth, and Ava drops three places sixth. Isla is a new entry on the chart in seventh. Abigail falls two places to eighth, and Evelyn drops one place to ninth. In joint tenth are Mia, Sadie, Scarlett and Sophie . Mia and Sophie are new entries, Sadie climbs seven places and Scarlett falls seven places. Ella drops out of the top ten.

Other new entries in the top 20 names are Anna (14th), Addison (joint 20th) and Lucy (joint 20th).

Male Names

The top two boys’ names in 2018 are unchanged, with William in first place and Benjamin in second. Hunter climbs nine places to third. Lincoln remains in fourth place, and Oliver drops two places to fifth. Jack and Noah stay in joint sixth place. Owen moves up two places to eighth. Liam falls five places to joint ninth with Logan, who drops one place. Lucas and James drop out of the top ten.

New entries in the top 20 boys’ names are Henry (joint 16th), John (joint 16th), Thomas (joint 16th) and Wyatt (20th).
