Ontario Baby Names 2016

Service Ontario  has released baby names data for 2016 for Ontario in Canada. Data is available for male and female names with a count of six or more.

Female Names

The five most popular girls’ names are unchanged from 2015, with Olivia in first place, Emma in second, Charlotte in third, Ava in fourth and Sophia in fifth. Abigail moves up one place to sixth, changing places with Emily who drops to seventh. Amelia climbs two places to eighth. Mia remains in ninth and Isabella drops two places to tenth.

New entries in the top 100 names include Zara (up 21 places to 88th), Madeline (up 3 places to 98th) and Rose (up 6 places to 99th).

Names dropping out of the top 100 include Keira (down 10 places to 102nd), Kylie (down 5 places to 105th) and Sydney (down 33 places to 108th).

Male Names

Benjamin moves up one place to become the most popular boys’ name in 2016, changing places with Liam who drops to joint second with Noah. Ethan moves up one place to fourth, changing places with Lucas who drops to fifth. William remains in sixth and Jacob climbs three places to seventh. Oliver is a new entry in the top ten, moving up seven places to eighth. James is also a new entry in the top ten, climbing five places to ninth. Logan falls three places to tenth. Nathan drops out of the top ten.

New entries in the top 100 names include Easton (up 29 places 82nd), Jason (up 22 places to 84th), Carson (up 16 places to 86th), Ali (up 20 places to 88th), Everett (up 18 places to 95th), Ibrahim (up 18 places to 97th) and Elias (up 27 places to 99th).

Names falling out of the top 100 include Christopher (down 15 places to 101st), Ryder (down 12 places to 102nd), Felix (down 14 places to 108th) and Hayden (down 30 places to 122nd).
