Spain Baby Names 2018

The Instituto Nacional de Estadística  has released baby names data for 2018 for Spain. Data is available for the 100 most popular male and female names.

Female Names

The two most popular girls’ names are unchanged from 2017, with Lucia topping the chart and Sofia in second place. Martina moves up one place to third, changing places with Maria who drops to fourth. Paula remains in fifth and Julia stays in sixth. Emma climbs three places to seventh. Valeria is unchanged in eighth. Daniela falls two places to ninth, and Alba drops one place to tenth.

New entries in the top 100 names are Lina (83rd), Amaia (86th), Isabella (97th) and Yasmin (99th).

Male Names

Hugo moves up one place to be the most popular boys’ name in 2018, ahead of Lucas who drops to second. The next three names are unchanged from 2017, with Martin in third, Daniel in fourth and Pablo in fifth. Mateo moves up one place to sixth, changing places with Alejandro who falls to seventh. Leo is a new entry in the top ten, climbing three places to eighth. Alvaro remains in ninth and Manuel is unchanged in tenth. Adrian drops out of the top ten.

New entries in the top 100 are Luka (95th) and Jon (99th).
