United States Baby Names 2017

The Social Security Administration  has released baby names data for 2017 for United States (total of the 50 States and District of Columbia). Data is available for names with a count of five or more.

Female Names

The top three most popular girls’ names are unchanged, with Emma in first place, Olivia in second and Ava in third. Isabella moves up one place to fourth, changing places with Sophia who drops to fifth. Mia remains in sixth place and Charlotte stays in seventh. Amelia and Evelyn are new entries in the top ten, with Amelia climbing three places to eighth and Evelyn moving up three places to ninth. Abigail drops two places to tenth. Harper and Emily fall out of the top ten.

New entries in the top 100 names include Emilia (up 28 places to 74th), Everly (up 25 places to 82nd), Isabelle (up 11 places to 92nd), Valentina (up 12 places to 94th) and Nova (up 41 places to 95th).

Names falling out of the top 100 include Katherine (down 15 places to 105th), Taylor (down 22 places to 112th), Kylie (down 31 places to 114th) and Brianna (down 25 places to 123rd).

Male Names

Liam is the most popular boys’ name in 2017, moving up one place ahead of Noah who drops to second. William stays in third place and James moves up one place to fourth. Logan is a new entry in the top ten, climbing thirteen places to fifth. Benjamin remains in sixth and Mason drops three places to seventh. Elijah moves up one place to eighth. Oliver is another new entry in the top ten, climbing three places to ninth. Jacob falls three places to tenth. Michael and Ethan drop out of the top ten.

New entries in the top 100 include Ezekiel (up 39 places to 82nd), Maverick (up 54 places to 85th), Santiago (up 13 places to 93rd) and Jameson (up 28 places to 100th).

Names dropping out of the top 100 include Kevin (down 11 places to 101st), Zachary (down 14 places to 103rd), Tyler (down 15 places to 106th) and Brandon (down 15 places to 114th).
